Save Paper

HSBC goes paperless - to receive your personal account statement subscribe for eStatement through your Personal Internet Banking
An effort to save our environment

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Limited, Bangladesh is undertaking initiatives to promote 'Green Banking'. Our initiatives are aligned with Bangladesh Bank's "Guidelines on Environment Risk Management". As part of our continuous efforts to go green, we are going to discontinue sending paper-printed account statements and half-yearly balance confirmation advices to customers starting from 31 October 2011. However, our Internet Banking service allows you to view, download and save your account statements - free of any charge.

It takes 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, 3 cubic yards of landfill space, 4000 kilowatts of energy and 7000 gallons of water altogether - to produce just 1 ton of paper. Worldwide, millions of account statements are produced each year - needing 25 tons of paper annually - for which an entire football-field-sized forest is cleared every year!

To alleviate this situation and help save our environment, we are sure that you would want to play your small part.

We have also ensured the ease of our customers in receiving statements through the following methods:

  • We will provide our customers with two statements per year - completely free of charge. For that you will have to visit any of your nearest HSBC branches to request for the statement and collect it after the stipulated time (subsequent statements - after the first two - will be charged as per standard tariff);
  • Our Personal Internet Banking service empowers you to access most of our services online. Among other facilities, customers can enjoy instant access to their account statements (e-statements in PDF format) generated from the day of registration. If you require the statements can be printed by you and/or stored for an indefinite period of time - free of charge;
  • For quick reference, customers may also use the "Account Activity Enquiry" facility of our ATMs which provides customers with the option to view a mini-statement of their last eight transactions. No charge is applicable for this either;
  • Another such quick service is offered by our Phonebanking service, through which the details of a customer's last five transactions can be enquired.

As the world's leading international bank, HSBC brings together the best of global knowledge and banking expertise, as well as the very best in banking experience.

Your kind co-operation in the aforesaid noble endeavour is solicited. For any queries, please contact our Call Centre at 01199 88HSBC (4722).
