HSBC extends support to the Meider Jonno Asha


Mr Muneer Husaain (1st from R), Manager Marketing and Public Relations of HSBC in Bangladesh handed over the cheque to Mr Mike Whittles (2nd from R) of Meider Jonno Asha (MJA) at a simple ceremony held in Dhaka recently at the MJA premises in Dhaka .

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Limited in Bangladesh extended support to the Meider Jonno Asha (MJA) by donating BDT150,000 in its endeavour to provide education to underprivileged girls of the society. The funds were raised from the HSBC Charity Golf Tournament held in December 2003.

The primary objective of the project is to provide education and vocational training to underprivileged girls to avoid early marriage or full-time working at a young age. To accomplish this Asha adopted 250 needy teenage girls into their education and training programme for up to three years.

This initiative is a part of the global “HSBC in the Community” programme, which reflects the Bank’s ongoing contribution to the local community.
