10 April 2005 HSBC and Brac Concord Lands Ltd raise funds for welfare of autistic children

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Limited in Bangladesh and Brac Concord Land Ltd raised BDT140,000 for the Society for the Welfare of Autistic Children (SWAC).
The funds were raised from the sales proceeds of a month long Children Painting Exhibition jointly organised by HSBC and Brac Concord Lands at the Bank's Gulshan branch premises recently and the contribution from HSBC. Thirty-five paintings of the exhibition were winners of a nationwide school painting exhibition initiated by Brac Concord Lands Ltd.
Established in 2000, SWAC has been running a training and education centre for 58 autistic children. They also conducts vocational training program for children above 10 years of age. To modernize the education, SWAC will use the funds to buy different teaching materials and gymnasium equipments.
Mr Faruque Chowdhury, Advisor of Brac handed over the cheque to Engr. Anwar Hossain, Chairman of SWAC at a ceremony held on 07 April 2005 in Dhaka. Mr A F M Sodrul Alam Chowdhury, GM of Brac Concord Lands and Mr Mamoon M Shah, Manager, Personal Financial Services of HSBC in Bangladesh were also present on the occasion.
