HSBC EXTENDS SUPPORT TO THE SCHOOL OF HOPE

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Limited in Bangladesh extended support to the School of Hope by donating BDT293,000 recently in Dhaka. The funds will be utilised to provide books, stationeries, and meals to the students and purchase new furniture for the classrooms of the school.

School of Hope is an educational institution set up for the disadvantaged children from the slum areas of Gulshan and Badda. There are currently 140 students in the school from Kindergarten to grade Five.

Recently, the school held it's end of year annual program which helps to develop the cultural skill of the children, to reach the parents and inform them about the progress report of their children, to hand over the annual report of school to the donors and sponsors and overall to finish the school year with fun activities.

This year's programme included recitations, singing, dramas, dancing etc. which were all done by the school children. The school was abuzz with parents, guests and donors on this day.

Mr. Steve Banner, CEO, Mr. Tim Liverton, Head of Credit Risk Management and Mr. Mustafizur R Khan, Head of Marketing and Public Relations attended the event from HSBC. All the board members and teachers helped supervise the whole programme. The programme ended with a prize distribution ceremony for the children.

HSBC has been associated with the school since 1997. The Bank has donated more than BDT1.8 million to the school so far for paying teacher's salaries, procuring educational materials, operational cost etc. In addition, the Bank has sponsored the school’s annual sports day, music literacy projects, helped paint the school, taken the children out for an outing at the zoo and many other projects.
