03 July 2006 HSBC Asia Pacific CEO donates educational materials to School of Hope

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Ltd Asia Pacific CEO Mr. Michael Smith visited School of Hope as part of his activities during his stay in Bangladesh recently.
Mr Smith handed over school bags and educational materials for the school children. In addition, HSBC has also donated funds, which will be used to provide lunch for the school children for this year.
School of Hope is an educational institution set up for the disadvantaged children from the slum areas of Gulshan and Badda. There are currently 140 students in the school from Kindergarten to grade Five.
HSBC has been associated with the school since 1997. The Bank has donated more than BDT1.8 million to the school so far in addition to sponsoring the school's annual sports day, music literacy projects, helped paint the school, taken the children out for an outing at the zoo and many other projects.
Mr Steve Banner, CEO HSBC Bangladesh, Mr Mustafizur R Khan, Head of Marketing and Public Relations and other officials of the bank accompanied Mr Smith in this visit.
