The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Ltd in Bangladesh launched the Young Entrepreneurs Award 2006-07 (YEA) at a ceremony on 09 November 2006.
YEA was originally launched six years ago to encourage innovation and creativity amongst students in Hong Kong. Since that time, the programme has continued to grow in terms of the numbers of students and participating countries.
HSBC is committed to supporting educational projects and is particularly proud to be able to provide students with access to a competition that allows them to showcase their creativity whilst also gaining practical and useful knowledge. This initiative allows students to not only test their creativity but also helps them to learn business disciplines through a series of training programs.
Through this competition HSBC will provide encouragement and guidance to students to help them understand how to make their small business plans bankable. This is in keeping with our general desire to support the development of Small and Medium sized Enterprizes, which contribute so much to the Bangladesh economy.
As part of the competition, HSBC has signed up with 9 universities, and we will be promoting this initiative direct to students at their campuses. HSBC will also be aligning with more universities and colleges in the coming weeks.
The finalist (gold winner) from Bangladesh will be provided with an opportunity to showcase their talents in Hong Kong in competition with winners from other regional competitions held in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand and Philippines.
