HSBC LAUNCHES AUDIO CD OF THE SECOND "SHOTO BORSHER BANGLA GAAN" MUSICAL EVENT

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Ltd in Bangladesh has launched a limited edition, collector's edition Audio CD covering songs from HSBC's "Shoto Borsher Bangla Gaan". This musical event, held earlier in the year, celebrated the remarkable journey of Bangla music over the past century.

This year's musical programme featured 42 songs from the past century, which were performed by over 20 of the most well-known and respected Bengali singers. Amongst those performing on the evening were Shahnaz Rahmatullah, Sabina Yasmeen, Mitali Mukhergee, Rezwana Choudhury Bonna, Mita Haque, Abdul Hadi, Samina Choudhury, Bashir Ahmed, Ram Kanai Das, Moniruzzaman Choudhury and many others.

The limited edition 4-disc CD contains a brochure with commentary on the musical evolution of Bangla songs over the last 100 years.

Launching the CD HSBC Bangladesh Chief Executive Officer, Mr Steve Banner, explained that HSBC is committed to showcasing Bengali culture and that HSBC had been delighted to host such an event for the second year running. Mr Md Mahbub-ur-Rahman, Corporate Banking Head of HSBC expressed his hope that HSBC's customers would enjoy listening to the cd and reliving the golden era of Bangla music.

Whilst the limited edition CD will not be available for sale, complimentary copies of the CD will be made available to any customer that takes out a new, qualifying Personal Installment Loan between 15 April 2007 and 30 May 2007. Mr Mustafizur R Khan, Head of Marketing and Public Relations, HSBC Bangladesh, Dr Karunamoy Goshwami, noted researcher and music exponent, Shujeo Shyam, music director and other officials of HSBC Bangladesh were also present at the occasion.
