HSBC HELPS FARMERS AFFECTED BY RECENT FLOOD FROM THE SAVINGS OF NON PRINTING OF EID GREETING CARDS
Mr Mustafiz R Khan, Head of Marketing and Public Relations of HSBC in Bangladesh is handing over winter vegetable seedlings to one of the flood affected farmers. HSBC distributed various winter vegetable seedlings among 285 flood affected farmers of Ulail union under Manikganj district on 10 October 2007.
As part of being environment friendly, each year the HSBC Group opts out of printing greeting cards for various special occasions.
Keeping aligned with that philosophy, this year, HSBC Bangladesh has opted not to print EID cards this year, instead it decided to donate the money saved to provide winter vegetable seeds for the flood affected farmers in Manikganj, Dhaka.
HSBC arranged a program where staff distributed the seeds to 285 farmers in a village named Tebura.
In addition, HSBC recently arranged iftaar for 250 street children of Karwan Bazaar area through a local NGO as well as arranging iftaar and dinner for 380 orphans residing at Sir Salimullah Muslim orphanage where HSBC staff joined the children for iftaar.
HSBC believes that this kind of initiatives will have a positive impact on society and hopefully help in generating interest for others to come forward in helping the less fortunate.
