HSBC hosted the 2nd "HSBC Charity Golf Tournament" sponsored by the Bank at the Bhatiary Golf and Country Club in Chittagong on 12 December 2003. Golfers and customers from both Chittagong and Dhaka were present at the tournament. The tournament raised BDT 1,250,000 from cosponsors & raffle draws. The total amount raised will be donated to local charities. Honourable Commerce Minister Mr Amir Khosru M Chowdhury M.P. and Major General Moeen U. Ahmed p.s.c, General Officer Commanding, 24th Infantry Division, Chittagong Cantonment were guests of honour at the ceremony. Mr David J H Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC in Bangladesh delivered a speech following lunch, highlighting HSBC's involvement in the community and thanking the distinguished corporate sponsors for their contribution. Mr Adil Islam, Corporate Banking Head and other Senior Executives of HSBC in Bangladesh were also present in the occasion. This initiative is a part of the global "HSBC in the Community" programme, which reflects the Bank's ongoing contribution to the local community.
