The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Limited in Bangladesh donated Tk 200,000 to Chittagong Lions Foundation (CLF) to join in their efforts to overcome the scourge of preventable blindness in Bangladesh. Brian G Fredrick, Head of International, HSBC Asia Pacific handed over the cheque to Ln M A Malek of Chittagong Lions Foundation, at a ceremony held on 18 March 2004. Among others Mr David J H Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC in Bangladesh, Ln Rafique Ahmed, President Lions Club and Ln Rupam Kishore Barua were also present on the occasion. The funds will be utilised in financing CLF’s projects of cataract microsurgery and Intra Ocular Lens implementation of the poor people in the remote villages of Bangladesh.
