HSBC donates to School of Hope


The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Limited in Bangladesh donated BDT 200,000 to the School of Hope. The school provides education to more than 120 underprivileged children who would otherwise be unable to afford education.

Ms Jotine van Mels, Chairperson of School of Hope received the cheque at a ceremony held at HSBC Motijheel branch, Dhaka. Rashedul H Khandker, Manager Network Services Centre, Syed A H Uddin, Manager, Human Resources of HSBC in Bangladesh and Chitto Halder, Principal of the school were also present at the ceremony.

HSBC Bangladesh also inaugurated a beginners’ computer course for the students of School of Hope at the Training Centre of the Bank at Motijheel with the help of Bank’s resources and involvement of staff. 16 students from grade 5 will be benefited from the course. This is the second year that HSBC arranged such a course for the school.

This endeavour is a reflection of the Bank’s ongoing contribution to the welfare of the society.
