POSITIVE PAY CONFIRMATION

Dear Valued Customer

POSITIVE PAY CONFIRMATION FOR CLEARING CHEQUES

Thank you for your support as a Retail Banking and Wealth Management customer of HSBC. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for trusting us with your personal banking services.

We would like to inform you that recent Bangladesh Bank regulations have made it mandatory for the Banks to obtain a ‘positive pay’ confirmation for all personal account cheques valued at BDT500,000/- or more. Accordingly, with effect from 01 April 2014, you will be required to provide confirmation for each of your issued cheques valued at BDT 500,000 or more. This mandatory regulatory requirement has been formalised as a measure to protect you against potential fraud attempts which can take place with your cheques.

Under the positive pay regulations, in applicable cases, we shall contact you at the phone number(s) available in our records to obtain confirmation from you. In cases where we will not be able to contact you over phone within the processing time, we shall have to return your cheque without further notice. However, please also note that, in case of technical discrepancies (e.g. signature mismatch), we shall not be able to process the cheque even after getting your confirmation.

Please note, you can also inform the bank through Pre-Positive Pay Notification Form.

If you need to update your phone number, please fill up the Phone Number Update Form and submit it at the nearest HSBC branch. By updating your contact information, you will be helping us as well as yourself to avoid any potential fraudulent activity in the future.
