Protecting you from fraud and financial crime
In today's increasingly connected world, it's more important than ever to ensure your security – especially when it comes to banking. That's why we're introducing HSBC Safeguard: a series of initiatives designed to provide better protection for all of our customers from fraud and financial crime across our global processes and systems.
Information is key to protection
HSBC systems and processes depend on us having up-to-date customer information. So, from time to time, we may ask you:
- to confirm or update your personal or business details;
- to provide some new information; and / or
- to provide original or original certified documents.
We understand that this may cause some inconvenience, and we apologise in advance for this, but we will work with you to ensure the process is as simple and straightforward as possible.
What happens to your data?
The purpose for gathering your up-to-date data is so that our processes and systems can protect our customers and the Bank against fraud and financial crime. We take our duty to protect your data very seriously, so all the information you provide to HSBC will be subject to HSBC Group's high data and security standards. Our intention is only to use the information for your protection and NOT to share with any third parties for marketing purposes.
What do I need to do next?
For now, you don't need to do anything. We will be contacting customers individually to request when, how and what information they need to provide as an update. Depending on your individual contact preferences, you may receive either an email or a letter.
